Diaper Covers are designed to be used over prefolds, flats and fitted diapers. These style of diapers are not waterproof and using a diaper cover will keep them waterproof.

Diaper covers can be made of PUL, fleece, or wool. They all work to keep urine contained inside the diaper and keep baby dry. You do not need to have equal number of diapers to covers. Cover can be reused throughout the day. I recommend rotating 2 covers with each diaper change unless one gets really dirty. Just wipe out PUL covers and leave to dry in between changes.

How many covers do you need?

Most people find that 4-6 covers in each size is a good amount. Although some people prefer to have more covers on hand "just in case". We recommend that you rotate 2 covers throughout the day, wiping out the cover and leaving to air dry in between diaper changes. Having extra covers on hand is a good idea when the cover becomes soiled and needs to go into the wash immediately.
